Welcome to Preschool

Welcome to Sadleir Public School Preschool

Preschool focuses on play-based activities and lays the foundation for future learning. Preschool provides an educational program for children in the year before starting school that supports the development of early language, literacy, numeracy and social skills.

The preschool is led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and is supported by a qualified School Learning Support Officer.

Starting preschool can be a very exciting time for children and their families. Both teachers are available to speak with at any time if you want to know about your child's day and their learning. Please also involve your child in discussing their day, with the added advantage of our Day book with plenty of photos and drawings.

Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia outlines our preschool practices to support and promote our children's learning.

The Framework conveys the highest expectations for all children's learning from birth to five years and through the transitions to school. It communicates these expectations through five Learning Outcomes.

These include:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators

Sadleir Preschool is committed to providing learning opportunities through an engaging environment whilst sustaining a love of learning. We foster an interest based program, and children all have individual learning goals, which they and their families are fully involved in planning.

The children are divided into two preschool groups:

Adventurers - Monday to Wednesday during Term 1/2, then remove Wednesday Term 3/4

Explorers- Thursday and Friday during Term 1/2, then add Wednesday Term 3/4

Please pack the following in your childs School bag each day:

  • A hat
  • A spare change of clothes
  • A healthy lunchbox with fruit, lunch and afternoon tea
  • Drink bottle with water
  • A sheet to rest in Term 1 only

Please label all of your child's belongings with their name in permanent marker.

Please follow our School Facebook page, which has regular information regarding the Preschool as well.

We will always provide up to date information via our regular newsletters and signs within the preschool.

Families are encouraged to view and add to our preschool program. We acknowledge the important role you have in the children's learning and look forward to sharing this with you. If you have any questions or regarding our preschool curriculum, please feel free to speak with the Preschool teachers.
