Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Wakakiri
Sadleir Public School has participated in Wakakirri for the past three years. Wakakirri is a nationwide Festival for Australian schools that provides a platform for students to express their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations through the art of storytelling and dance. Our 2025 Wakakirri Story-Dance called ‘The Great Ant Hill Battle’ involved our school working together to make our performance special. The story was written by students and focused on sustainability such as using recycled crates to build parts of the set.
VIBE Groups
VIBE groups is a structured peer program that involves older students (Years 5-6) mentoring younger peers (Years K-4). Vibe groups aims to foster a supportive school environment, enhance student well-being, and promote positive social interactions as well as promoting inclusivity and respect. Students benefit from an enhanced sense of belonging, positive role modelling, reduced bullying and improved social skills. Leaders benefit from cultivating empathy, responsibility, and leadership.
Sport
Students participate in diverse activities like team sports, individual challenges, and recreational games to improve their coordination, fitness, and develop a positive outlook on maintaining an active lifestyle. We provide a broad selection of sporting options at the school, inter-school, and representative levels. These experiences promote key values such as fair play, perseverance, and cooperation, enabling students to build confidence and friendships that support their overall well-being. Aboriginal Cultural Group
Aboriginal Cultural Group acknowledges the many Countries from which our students are from and appreciates and values their knowledge, practices and traditions. During Cultural Group students learn about the Darug people of the Dharawal Nation on the lands of which Sadleir Public School resides. Students have opportunities to learn about their cultural goals they have chosen and engage in a variety of learning experiences that support developing an awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
